Elecon had investigated a bottle-neck process in which a lot of time will be sunk from increased workloads, therefore, we made the decision to invest in a laser welder last year.
Before we made the investment, we carried out a basic exercise to compare working activities between MIG and laser welder, to see the time differences. For one of our standard framework assemblies for one of our extraction sector customers, we compared a time difference of nearly 25 minutes per unit! After this simple comparison, it was a very justifiable investment which we authorised.
From this laser welder, it allows us to carry out basic welds much faster than traditional TIG welding, but also allows us to weld exotic materials to a high quality much faster than traditional methods.
