Submersible Level Transmitters are known by several names including Hydrostatic Level Sensor, Submersible Level Sensor, Submersible Pressure Transmitter or Submersible Level Probe. All are designed to accurately continuously measure the depth or level of liquid. The concept is very simple: Water has a specific gravity (SG) of 1 which equates to 100 mBar of pressure per metre of liquid level. The pressure is measured by the level transmitter which directly equates to the liquid level. A typical example would be 10 metres of liquid level equates to 1 bar of pressure. Other liquids such as Diesel have a different specific gravity of roughly 0.85 which means 10 metre level would be 0.85 bar pressure. There are many different applications, hence different designs that should be considered when selecting the right level transmitter. The main criteria is the sensor diameter, the depth to be measured, the output required such as 4-20 mA and the environment it will be fitted. Our selection includes slimline borehole transmitters, Hazardous area ATEX approved, Digital output SDI-12 & RS-485 Modbus level transmitter and high volume, low cost IoT solutions.
